The proposal includes two sites; a linear park at Hothampton providing direct pedestrian access to the waterfront, and the waterside ‘Regis Centre’ which will be aptly promoted under the concept of ‘Gardens by the Sea’. This second site boasts an incredible 3,000 sqm Winter Garden; encased in a stunning curved organic structure full of vibrant flora, carefully placed terrace areas/viewing platforms and an integrated theatre.
The initial reception of the scheme has been very positive both on a business and community level. Gillian Brown, Leader of the Council at Arun District Council comments: “Following extensive consultation in 2015 on what residents wanted to see on both sites, this study clearly shows we have listened. Our aim remains one of encouraging economic and social regeneration and to do justice to the opportunities presented by these key sites… New jobs, new housing and finally the new thinking needed to fully exploit the sites under discussion.”
